What changes from one platform to another
Your books, reports and syncing are the same everywhere. What changes is what the app can ask of the operating system, and we would rather say so before you install.
- Push notifications arrive on iPhone, Android and Mac. Not on Windows or Linux: you see what is due when you open the app.
- Unlocking with a fingerprint or face works on iPhone, Android, Mac and Windows. On Linux you sign in with your password.
- Subscriptions are bought inside the app on iPhone and Android; on Windows, Mac and Linux from the website, with the same card and the same account.
- Linux needs a system keyring (libsecret, for example gnome-keyring or KWallet): that is where your session and your document encryption keys live.
- If Windows 11 stops the installation saying an application control policy has blocked the file (error 4551), that is Smart App Control. The installer is signed, but a version that has just come out may not be known to Microsoft yet: try again in a few days or write to us at info@cashfulness.com. Don't turn that protection off: on Windows 11, turning it back on may require reinstalling the system.
- The first time you run the installer, Windows may show the blue “Windows protected your PC” warning: it is not an error. The installer is signed by VITTORIO GIUSTI S.R.L. with a Microsoft certificate, but the warning depends on the file's reputation, which Microsoft builds from downloads over the first few weeks. Click “More info” and then “Run anyway”.
